- GMF98009 In November 1999 (Part I) and May 2001 (Part II) approval was given to field test genetically modified cattle with cattle casein genes or the human myelin basic protein gene; or deletion of the cattle β-lactoglobulin gene. Milk may have enhanced nutritive value or be valuable as a theraputic agent for multiple sclerosis.
- GMD02028 In September 2002 approval was given to develop transgenic cattle that can express functional therapeutic foreign proteins in their milk, and to develop transgenic cattle to study gene function and genetic performance.
